Skip Walther

Skip is a seasoned attorney, who practices in the areas of real estate law, corporations, wills and trusts, and estate planning. Skip earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1979 and is a former Boone County assistant prosecuting attorney.   


Skip is a member of the Boone County Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He served as President of The Missouri Bar in 2009-2010 and as a member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors from 1999–2011. He has received the Citation of Merit from the University of Missouri Law School in 2009, which is the highest honor given an MU law alumnus. In 2011, Skip was appointed to a six year term on the Missouri Commission on Retirement, Removal and Discipline of Judges and he was also appointed in 2011 to the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on Civic Education. 


Skip currently serves as Chairman of the Downtown Columbia Community Improvement District Board of Directors and the Mayor’s Parking Task Force and writes a periodic column on downtown and legal issues for the Columbia Daily Tribune. He appeared as a weekly legal commentator on KOMU TV in Columbia from 1998 to 2001 and hosted or participated in a radio talk show program on legal and political issues on KFRU 1400 AM from 2000-2010. 


Skip continues to play competitive tennis on a national and international level, and has been ranked as high as #2 nationally in singles and doubles as well as achieving a standing of #13 internationally in singles. He has represented the United States in international tennis competition in Turkey, France, Canada, Great Britain and the United States and was elected to the International Lawn Tennis Club of the United States. He was inducted into the Missouri Valley Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2009.
